Voting every four years is
where democracy starts
Not where it ends.
Burlington's own Community Engagement Charter commits the city to five levels of resident participation. Most decisions stop at "Inform." I intend to reach "Empower."
The public is not a risk to be managed. In Ward 2, the public is the most powerful resource we have. My governance model is built on that belief — practically, accountably, and from day one.
Structured community consultations before major votes — not town halls where the decision has already been made.
Plain-language report-back within 48 hours of every major council vote: what was decided, why, and how your input did or did not influence it.
A Ward 2 Residents Panel — a diverse, rotating group of ordinary residents who meet with me regularly, not just the organised groups who already know how to find City Hall.
The engagement charter — my commitment
| Level | What it means in Ward 2 |
|---|---|
| Inform | Residents receive clear, timely information on all Ward 2 matters |
| Consult | Feedback is sought before decisions are made, not after |
| Involve | Residents shape the options, not just react to them |
| Collaborate | We develop solutions together — the Ward 2 Residents Panel |
| Empower ← my goal | Residents have real decision-making power in Ward 2 — not just input |
I'm not waiting for the election to start. The Ward 2 briefing is that 48-hour report-back, running now. Sign up below →
The 8 Pillars of Dignity
These are not campaign promises — they are the values I have lived and the commitments I will carry into every vote, every meeting, and every conversation at City Hall. Every decision I make will be tested against one question: does this serve the dignity of Ward 2 residents?
Stewardship of growth
Growth is necessary — but growth without a plan is just pressure. Every development must be assessed, proportionate, and respectful of what came before it.
The commitment: we define the height before the builder arrives, not after.
The fabric of cohesion
Ward 2 is a cloth woven by its residents over decades. Every new thread must strengthen it.
The commitment: heritage, culture and public space assessed as part of every major application — not as an afterthought.
Institutional clarity
You have the right to understand every decision made in your name.
The commitment: plain-language budget updates, voting records published within 48 hours of every major vote, and a Financial Clarity Audit for Ward 2 so you can track every dollar of the $350M gap.
Generational equity
Every decision tested against two questions: what does this mean for the generation before us, and for the generation coming after?
The commitment: no deferral of infrastructure maintenance that simply moves the bill to our children.
Restorative safety
Safety is not just the absence of danger. It is the presence of trust.
The commitment: no new development approved without a proper traffic impact assessment for Ward 2, and a walkability and lighting audit walked in winter, at night.
Empowering the helpers
Non-profits, volunteers, community organisations and small businesses are the connective tissue of Ward 2.
The commitment: a standing quarterly meeting with Ward 2 non-profits and small business, and advocacy for faster permit processing for community organisations.
Foundation of wellness
Recreation centres, libraries, parks and green space are not extras. They are the infrastructure of a healthy community.
The commitment: recreation and library decisions assessed for their effect on seniors and isolation, explicitly, in the staff report.
Environmental grace
We inherited something beautiful. We have a responsibility to pass it on.
The commitment: environmental considerations treated as a condition of every approval I support, not an afterthought.
A place not just to live in, but to thrive in
Ward 2 is like a fabric — woven over time by the people who live here. My job, if you elect me, is to make sure every new thread we add makes it stronger, not strain its seams.
It is strong. It is intricate. And like any fabric, it needs care. New threads can be added — should be added — but every addition must respect what came before it. Growth that overwhelms the original weave doesn't strengthen the community. It strains it.
We are building a city that is futuristic enough to lead, but grounded enough to remember where we came from.
- Welcoming and inclusive spaces

- Businesses and non-profits supported and flourishing
- Public spaces that bring people together
Legacy protected. Future secured.
Tell me what's on your mind in Ward 2
There is no reason to wait until I am elected to start listening. If something in Ward 2 or across Burlington is on your mind - a road, a development, a service that is not working - I want to hear it. It shapes what I raise and what I push on.
It takes a minute, and it comes straight to me.
