Hi, I'm Masha Brar. Thank you for watching this video and wanting to learn more about me. I'm a lawyer here in Burlington. I practise real estate, and wills and estates. My family and I have lived in Ward 2 for close to a decade. This is where we shop, where our son goes to school, and where we walk the dog every day. I am new to running for office, but I'm not new to this neighbourhood.

I know a lot of you are hearing my name for the very first time. That's exactly why I wanted to make this video. Most of what city council actually decides is planning, development and budgets. That's the paperwork I read as a lawyer every day. I know what a zoning by-law really allows, and I know when a resident is being consulted properly and when they are being told after the fact.

I keep meeting neighbours who feel like decisions just land on them rather than getting made with them. I don't think growth is the enemy. I think growth without dignity is.

Three things I will be pushing for. First, a full line-by-line audit of city spending before anyone asks you for another tax increase. Second, growth directed to the GO Station areas where we already have some infrastructure, not stacked along our waterfront. And third, getting the roadwork we have already been promised actually finished, because we all know Brant Street and Lakeshore aren't getting any easier, and what's happening on Prospect.
